Campus life

VCU is located in the middle of downtown Richmond, providing our students with an urban educational experience that extends from the campus classroom to the adjacent neighborhoods. Our campus includes a mix of historical and modern buildings within walking distance of both charming residential neighborhoods and bustling commercial areas.

Our students enjoy the excitement of downtown living as they learn. International students are encouraged to learn about VCU Globe, a living-learning program that prepares students to live and work in a 21st-century global environment. Globe students live together in West Grace Street Student Housing – North, VCU’s newest residence hall.

Whether you choose to live on or off campus, when you’re at school our advanced alert systems and a dedicated 24-hour campus police force mean that you can feel safe and secure at all times. VCU has also made a concerted effort to go green. To date, we are the only Virginia school achieving an A-range rating on the national Green Report Card. Our goal is to become climate-neutral by 2050.
